Upon an individual’s death, we work with the family and/or the designated individual(s) after an individual’s death and act as the executor/administrator of the estate. Our estate administration services include:

  • Real estate closing
  • A gathering of assets including the closing of the bank
  • Mutual funds and brokerage accounts of the decedent

  • Opening of accounts for the estate
  • Preparation and filing of the necessary tax returns
  • Payment of outstanding debts of the decedent and administrative expenses of the estate
  • Preparation of releases for beneficiaries
  • Distribution of specific and residual bequests to estate beneficiaries

Wills and Trusts

We prepare wills, living wills and powers of attorney. In addition, we make a living will available to our clients so that the individual can make their determination as to what if any measure will be taken in the event of a terminal condition resulting in incapacity.

We explain the preparation of a last will and testament. Clients who write a last will and testament designate an executor or executrix to administer his or her estate.

Power of Attorney

It’s important to give durable power of attorney to an individual that is a trusted relative, friend or corporate fiduciary. They can transact business on behalf of the individual even after the individual becomes mentally incapacitated.

Guardianship Matters

If an individual has become incapacitated and did not designate an agent to act on their behalf in the event of their incapacity, a petition for appointment of a guardian will need to be filed with the Orphans' Court to decide after a full hearing that the individual is incapacitated requiring the services of a court-appointed guardian. We also help individuals in petitioning the court for the appointment of a guardian of a person and the property of a minor when parents are unable or unavailable to care for the minor child.

Estate Litigation Matters

Law Offices of Timothy M. Williams J.D.P.C represents parties involved in disputes regarding the administration of assets of elder relatives, will contests and other litigation in the Orphans' Court.
